Rabbidsland is a party game on the Nintendo Wii U, using the Wiimote (TV) / Wii U Gamepad (touchscreen) duo to provide an asymmetrical gameplay in various mini-games. The main mode is a turn-by-turn board game-style experience.
On this project, I was the game designer in charge of the « board game » mode conception and production. The constraint was to create a dice-based board game (you roll the dice then you move on the board) where players mainly win by playing « mini-games » on some squares.
I had to resolve several challenges on this board game :
Accessible for casual/younger players but interesting for regular ones.
Balance a free-for-all 4 players board game where players can play coop or versus 2 players mini-games
Design interesting IA behaviours bur not too invasive in game time
Ensure enough mini-games are launched
Ensure each player play quite the same time
Make an efficient user interface with two screen (TV and Wii U Game pad)
And all in a very short time production !
I also designed some conception docs for mini-games, one of whom included in the final game.
